Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:12 |  bitza

For all of you who MAY need to replace the cordia box here is a quick update:

The TR-TS magna box or Proton Satria MAY fit the cordia.

So far I have installed the TR-TS box onto a narrow block VR4.

Evo 3 motor in, but with gearbox side half shaft 15-20mm too long.

Mon, 07/19/2010 - 05:48 |  brazza

Hey guys i finally have my evo 3 project 99% of the way and ready for a tune now but.... theres a slight hiccup

The guys put the motor, box and half shafts in only to find that the gearbox side half shaft is 15-20mm too long now... bizare.

This is odd as everything should just bolt straight up from what i have been told in the past, but these things happen i guess.

They are gonna try a couple of ideas but otherwise anything you may think of would be of great assistance.

Cheers

Brad

Evo 3 gearbox conversion - 7 Bolt 4g63t Evo 3 cordia

Sun, 04/11/2010 - 23:48 |  brazza

Ok guys i have decided to keep things as simple as possible, after having a good discussion with speedworks and geartech in palmy here today.   I am now going to put an Evo 1-3 gearbox in with my cordia, much simpler, straight bolt in with the flywheel, i won't have any issues finding a clutch to work with it and be street drivable... Can handle all the power i push through it.

GEARBOX PROBLEM

Sun, 01/11/2009 - 21:31 |  exrep

I have a 85 fwd GSR-X and I have problems with my gearbox.

I have second, forth and reverse but no first, third and fifth.
It goes into gear but pops out when you release the clutch. When you start the car and push it into third without the clutch, it begins to slightly move.

Is my gearbox stuffed? Or is there something else that is stopping my gearbox from working properly?

Also, it is a cable clutch so if I replace it, is there anyway of me using a hydrolic clutch box and modifying it to still be able to use the cable clutch setup?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi Guys, I am rebuilding my gearbox which has basically been a year long project lol. Took it apart at the beginning of the year (got new bearings pressed on shafts/diff) decided to put it together tonight.

My problem, I get it all back together and I am left over with a pin. Took it back apart again, took the shift rails out, but found this shift rail with a hole

Gearbox

Sat, 10/11/2008 - 19:35 |  84GT

Hi everyone,
My gearbox is rumbling /clattering.I've had some people take the Cordia for a drive and they think it needs work.Going thru a friend I was put onto Rick from Paihia.30 years in the business, had a big shop in Auckland, moved to Paihia to retire from the big time.He said he would check the gearbox and carry out any needed work.

I am getting my Toyota dealership to pull the gearbox out.I trust and like the Toyota people.

I wil talk to the Toyota people about my coolant loss problem again,as well.

I will keep in touch

Loki's Cordia Gearbox

Tue, 03/25/2008 - 05:27 |  Loki

Hi all.

I own a 86 Cordia 1.8L non turbo. And besides the gearbox the rest in in excellent condition.

I need advice on how to proceed with repairs. Or not.

I'm a mechanical Noob with cars. But I do have some mechanical knowledge and understand the basics. But I relise this could take some time to resolve.

I won't try to explain the problems with the gearbox as I don't think I can truthfully recreate the sylables I would need to help explain the odd grinding sounds coming from the general gearbox area. Surfice to say the gearbox is Fucked (can I swear here?).

Anyway I need a new one.
