Guys,
Just wondering what future development I could do to the cordia.

I already have done:

2.3 conversion
Coil on Plug (COP)
Equal length shafts
Auto headlights
Magna Brake upgrade

I was looking into ABS and traction control systems.........mind you I'll keep the improvements to factory spec with no or minimal "special" parts to be made.

Any Ideas?

Get a LSD  Were you going to still drag race your car Andrew? If so is ABS worth it?

Yes John, I will still drag race the car..............just looking at some other options the cordia doesn't have..........would look nice at a car show...........something different.

Lets not mention the photographers and those magazines!

hmmm yeah you got a point there, gosh ABS though what hubs/sensors would you use, yikes that would be a big project.

How about an in car computer with wireless internet access, that would be an interesting project to see develop in a cordia, have a custom display (not meaning a fullsized one) in an old 80's dashboard would look awesome and would wow the car mags hehe

On the Right stork the Headlight bunt Sw I have heard it used as a "secretive" device to monitor threat - in other words hit it before ignite=Standard improvisation if key is active for use with standard from original wiring even if Aftermarket ECU is used this Bunt is still operational. I can not take credit for this, it had been mentioned to me- just to research the wiring diagram is needed. I will utilize one day -I can clarify with the person who told me in the future.

wtf are you on (about)? if your refering to the button on the end of the indicator stalk that opertaes headlight washers and only works with headlights switched on.. andrew has already replaced his indicator with a diferent one to include the auto headlights

Have you considered going to an automatic transmission Andrew?
Would be pretty awesome with your motor and a solid auto behind it down the 1/4 mile.

lol when will it stop?

maybe when you custom fabricate a spaceframe chassis for the thing, throw the four pot away, buy yourself a 3 litre V6 from the GTO and midmount the bitch, with double A arm suspension all round, using the engine and gearbox as a stressed member within the chassis to increase stiffness... 200 grand later... LMFAO!!

I haven't actuly tryed this yet, but just looking at at the TR/TS Magna hubs i think they might fit, and they came with ABS. also an autronic can do traction control.

Hate to spoil the party but I think you need to draw the line and move on. Brainstorming is good though...

Couldn't have put it better.

On a more serious note, I am **attempting** to convert my X1/9 struts all round to coilovers using some DIY methods and imported coilovers as a template. From my research, Ive found that if you are a handy mechanically minded person who can cut straight and weld alright, then it is a feasible and easy upgrade.

One of the benefits is the fact that the strut choices are totally up to the owner; you can get standard pedders ones if you just want height adjustable coilovers, or koni/bilstein inserts if you want adjustable dampening and rebound along with height adjustment. Then to top if off, if you get camber plates made for the top, you've got yourself coilovers to the standard of most coil overs out there.

The main issue here though is does the Cordia have rear struts? My X1/9 is struts all round so Im safe, but these mods can really only be done to macpherson struts. Finding adjustable strut inserts to suit will also be difficult, but what people in the X1/9 business are doing is converting to Charade Turbo struts which are the same diameter and 25mm shorter.

Something like that would need to be found for the Cordia if direct replacements arent available anymore. Regardless, it'll be a while before I do this to my car, but if anyone is truly interested in coilovers for around a grand (or less depending on how adjustable) then this is for them.

Food for thought kids, enjoy...

some sorta see trough bonnet would be cool using the same materials as those clear cam covers maybe....??? its not a mechanical upgrade but it'd be cool to see whats under the hood without opening it. would definitely have some cameras snapping away :smoke: oh and how much can you stroke ya motor till its all stroked out?

that is the 1mm in reserve for a rebuild. I guess it is what sets the road racers apart from the track races... A road race builds a engine to maximum and trys not to cook the engine. A person who is building for a race knows that they will be pushing the engine to the red line and that may lead to a rebuild eventually.
