In Auckland, New Zealand I recommend:

Boosted Performance,
1/115 Elliot Street, Howick, Auckland.
PH: (09) 532 8950

They also do the craziest engine conversions and carry a HUGE range of performance parts and accessories.

ATS (Adelaide Turbo Service). 953 Marion Road, Mitchell Park, 8377 2511. Bill Keen is the owner, great guy and unbelievable knowledge of the snail! Also Southern HiTech Dyno Tune. 1111 South Road, Melrose Park, 8277 4400. Bill's brother John Keen will get the best out of your dyno time.

I have used them both through work and are well worth the phone call!

Warranty was out and I was down $860

That sucks Steve! Sounds alot like the gearbox issue I had with a transmission company. Blew just outside of the 6 month warranty and I hadnt touched it for the whole 6months!

Ended up putting it in on the 7th month as I had a hold up with the car, so I DONT recommend Casper Transmissions in Auckland

I also recommend JD Automotive in Manukau City Auckland. They did quite a bit of work on my Cordias over time and they are all really friendly. Plus now they know how to fix Cordias really well since my car has been in and out of there countless number of times lol, he used to do mates rates too and Auto One is right next door so if you need parts its only a very short stroll.

From the extensive damage from my chassis and all the replacement parts, I'd say this turbo was being used when my cordia was involved in the accident that cracked the chassis... so my theory is that the radiator was smashed, pushing against the turbo and therefore tearing the studs out of the head (thus needing a replacement head)...

I believe the turbo was hot at the time and the sudden force could have cracked the housing....

That's my theory anyway!

I am running the Skyline turbo now because the TC06 died.... I'm gonna rebuild the TC06 myself with the parts I have here, and get it balanced.... then I'll sell it to go toward the VR4 project!

Anyone know how much a turbo balance costs???

You won't need to get your turbo rebalanced if neither the compressor or exhaust wheels have touched or rubbed the housings, there are no worn, chipped, or bent fins on either of the wheels and you are careful to mark the position of the wheels in relationship to each other prior to taking it apart and rebuilding.

If you do need it balanced however, it is about $50-100 depending on where you go. And they'll only need the compressor wheel, locknut, turbine shaft, and thrust parts.

I just want to point out something about this topic title "Recommended Cordia Tuners".

First of all the meaning has 2 diffrent sides.

The first meaning about cordia tuners is very simple.

1. A genuine unmodified cordia from the factory and having someone working on it and knowing everything about it and can recify any issues.

2. A cordia that has been fully modified with a Diffrent engine such as a vr4 and the mechanic guy is familiar with a vr4 engine.

There are 2 diffrent categories to call someone a cordia tuner.

I remember how Steve mentioned about seeing like over 40 mechanical workshops to see who will want to work on his car, unfortunatly he mentioned that none wanted to see his car peroid. Its this type of situatioon that would call those mechanics tottaly incompetant about cordia's.

2 categories:

Genuine unmodified cordia < Very hard to find a mechanic to work on it
Modified cordia < Most garages will work on these spec cordia's.

On the genuine cordia spec, the mechanic has to know the ins and outs of such a cordia, including how to diagnos and fix/adjust the tps, isc and know how to tunes the basics.

Modified cordia with a aftermarket ecu, usually anymody will be able to work on these cars.

whell this thred refers to tuners as in dino tuners, and this forum asumes that you work on your one car because u carn't fined anyone that knows anything about cordias (or has to meney bad experances with there mecanics to ever go back with there cordia).

umm... not necessarily! I wasn't making note of a specific dyno tuner, I was speaking of a turbo specialist that didn't check my turbo over properly!

Thats it .

Recommended cordia tuners is completely diffrent to recommended dyno tuners.
