Mitsubishi Cordia Club
Hello, my name is Steve, I saw the need for a place where only 'Cordia' information and media content should exist. Other sites didn't seem to offer this, and the name I found appropriate 'Cordia Freaks' was one of about three possibilities including 'Cordia Garage' and the other I cannot remember. I had previously owned a Cordia GSL for a short period in 2004, loved the car but circumstances required me to sell it. I later found myself sucked back into the Cordia scene in late 2005, when I grew a passion for turbochargers, I purchased my first Cordia GSR which happened to be defected at the time, and has cost me in excess of $8,000.00, most of which was due to simply making it roadworthy again and 'stock' to say the least
I have since spent another 2 or more grand on the car and not progressed much with reconditioning the old girl. But, having said that... 2009 should see a 2.3L stroker engine and a custom CordiaFREAKS paintjob being done! So I'm very excited about that! I've been designing websites since I began high school in 1999, where I've played with topics including 'freeware downloads, my hobbies, and tv shows (*cough FRIENDS)', aswell as most recently doing some professional work for schools and businesses. I've always had an eye for art and design, I've grown a strong liking to designing websites both in my private life and professionally. So, where does CordiaFREAKS come in? Well, you could say I was bored when I thought this site up! I first began playing with names, which I've already covered. Then I considered different colour-schemes, which you have probably wondered why we use 'maroon/red' as the CordiaFREAKS colour? Well, the red Turbo-Stripe on the GSR models is the reason I chose red. CordiaFREAKS has had it's ups and downs since I began the site, but I am very proud of our progress.
I remember the first days of CordiaFREAKS, the pages were very basic, I used static HTML for every page, including the photo gallery. Eventually we had some 15 members worth of photos, and I thought that there had to be a simpler and 'automatic' method of running a gallery, as I was manually uploading and configuring each page at a time whenever something was emailed to me. This is when I did some research and discovered some open-source alternatives, managed by MYSQL databases. My visions for the site were beginning to come true, but the requirements of our server only permitted 2mb or less via PHP, so the possibility of hosting videos was just not possible for us. I welcome everyone who owns a Cordia to join up and take full advantage of the free services provided to our members. I'm happy to say that we pride our Moderators for the quality knowledge and experience in the Cordia game. You may share information, stories, photos & videos, help each other out, have a great time here, because that's what this website is all about, making you smile at the end of the day knowing you have fixed that little problem with your car, or assisted with someone elses. Upload your files to your personal gallery for our entire Cordia community to see, giving you self-gratitude and worth for your efforts! Speaking of efforts, I'll hand over the typing to my second in charge 'Andrew'.
"Hi guys, I'm Andrew (aka. Bitza) I've been with CordiaFREAKS almost as long as it's existed, I remember when Steve first started the site back in the early days, I loved the idea of a local Mitsubishi Cordia web site, so I became a member and have never looked back! I've owned my cordia for over 20 years and she's been in many car magazines and shows in that time, probably one of the more popular Cordias in our community. I started with a 4G62 and worked it off it's teeth, when reliability became a problem I reverted to the 4G63 DOHC.......and I'm still improving it. I'd consider myself a veteran in the Cordia scene, as I'm a motor mechanic by trade and have owned my girl for a long time. When I'm not with my family, I'm doing some form of work on Bitza. People often ask me why I've given my Cordia this name, I say it's quite simple really, there's bits of this and bits of that all through Bitza! Hahahaha!!! so it was an obvious choice I think. I'm always around the place, so if you need any help with any Cordia issue, make a post in the forum and I'll give my best to answer any questions. With nearly 300 members, CordiaFREAKS is now making the impact we've been working towards, and it's fantastic to recieve so much support from everyone!"
Recieve star-ratings for each of your photos and videos by any member, or give ratings to others. In the forum, with the more you post, the more stars you earn for yourself, which in-turn gives you a veteran feeling amongst new members which shows that you have the experience. We operate a unique rewards system, where we reward our members for their achievements. A signed CordiaFREAKS certificate and gift are presented to our members who achieve high post statistics in our forum. Everyone says that Cordias can be interesting and often frustrating to own, in a way they are just like women (good looking and temperamental), you never know what they'll do next, and they will always try to keep you broke, but we love them all the same! We are people who willingly choose to go through these antics, and spend up big to see the final outcome, admiring the work at the end gives us the drive to proceed with the project that really never ends...
That's why we are.... CordiaFREAKS!
