Hey guys, thought i would start a build thread for my cordia as have finally made a place for it to begin work on it :) As some of you may and may not know i smashed my 87 cordia a few months back, buggering alot of the front end panels and lights, brackets, the inside front panel (holds top of radiator and the mounts for the hood) etc etc.   So guys heres the plan:   Body: - repair damage on front end - rust proof - flare both the front and rear wheel archs out a bit (have a panel beater friend that will be doing this for me) - shave those plasic body side thingy's (you know the black strip with red line in middel) - FULL respray in Hotrod Black (btw not a closed door job, wanna do all the door sills and engine bay) - a very low/close to the boot lid aliminum wing - a few other things here and there on the body, want to be different but keep the cordia look still :)   Suspension & Handleing: - Lower it alot! lol - would like to do a AWD conversion, but i know it will be madness, but really am considering this option (this is a maybe lots to do before this) - rear disk brake conversion   Interior: - new carpet - already got new stering wheel - i have heard of and seen people putting dash's out of CC (i think CC, << well its 90's models anyway) Lancers into the cordia's and they look good - new sound system as donated the old one to my laser as wasnt good enough for this car - the existing seats, door trims and roof liner are in immaculate condition on this car so aint gonna touch em   Engine: Now here i am not sure waht i will be doin exactly, this cordia is a GSL, so its a 1.8L carb'd 4g37. i know most would say drop a gsr motor in (4g62T) or do a 4g63T conversion or somthin. But i really want somthin different that no one else has done. Some older veterains of the car world i know (incuding my dad Lol) reckon i should stick with old school stuff and try to make a N/A beast < i very much like this idea so will be lookin into this more. if anyone else has suggestions in this area please comment on what you think would be a good track to go down ;)   Wheels: Have some new Mags going on they are only 14's but i like them and they are quite wide, so will be puttin some really really big tyres on them, i not the biggest fan of massive rims with low profiles, although they do look good in some cases :)   will put up another post with current progress and pics in a few minutes lol ;)

You could use a n/a 4G63 16 valve or the hyundia equiv G4CP and if you dont like fuel injection , modify inlet manifold to take 2x 40 or 44 idf wber carbies That would certainly be different   have fun with what ever you do it with it as it sounds like you have alot of work in front of you

Yea i know how you feel there... Other cars aint the same hey   I got 2 cordy's so i still got the other one to drive.. but its a 84AA, i dunno what it is, but its not the same as the AC.. its so much more loose and the brakes are crap, and it doesnt go as good lol... the 87AC was always so tight and percise. lol

ok so this weekend was very productive.. strutrually the car is now done..   i managed to weld on the new crossbar and and light mounts and what not the whole front section. bolted up the bonnet, wheel gaurds, nosecone and bumper.. and all to my expert calulations lined up perfectly :)! LOL   so yea.. now gonna stripp it all back off.. and start preping the car to be spray'd and while i'm at it get those gaurds flared out ;) as a matter of opinion guys, does anyone think it may be an idea to shop teh rear wheel arch up, and make it like the front one??? like fully rounded not with a flat top like it has? as i dont think i seen anyone do that yet..    will put up some pics of the car later today.   any suggestions please leave them ;)

hey all, today i got stuck into finishing a few of the welds, so all thats done now.   basicly worked on beating teh nosecone straighter, as it is a little dinted, but nearly done that now... got rid of the the crappy body side moulds. pretty much gonna start stripping some panels i think tomorow, start working on prepin the car for paintin. would love too find a kit or at least a front skirt however before i paint it . If anyone has anythin gettin rid/to sell of please tell. and yea next weekend i might hit up some wreckers see waht i can dig up   Owe and question for Andrew and others who have done 2.3L Stroker Builds If i was to say pick up a 2.0 DOHC 4g63 n/a, do the stroker conversion too 2.3. BUT! heres the interesting bit, seeing as i was talkin about goin N/A say if i was to use high compression pistons, say 10-1 or 11-1 (how high can i go on standar 98octane fuel? anyone know) or somthin like that i think my 4g37 is 8.5-1 do a in otherwords do a full N/A 2.3L build, get some really aggressive cams, port and polish the head, go twin webbers or somthin like esky suggested, cold air intake, extractors etc etc.. I would gather that would go pretty good? is there any reason why anyone could see that not being a good idea? anyone know what kind of firgures i would be lookin at as far as output?   anywho, heres some pics from today.   PICT0031-2.JPG PICT0036.JPG

A 2.3 N/A would give you about 200HP at the wheels, make sure you use flat top pistons though with the cutouts for the valves as the DOHC is interferance

fit.

Should be a monster................for even more power I would inject the engine rather than using carbies that are hard to balance.

that guard looks sweet man! Looks like you've been busy... I have to agree with Andrew about the wheel arch, I think Cordias look better with the rear arch standard! But as you said, it's personal taste!
