Has anybody had a look at doing this for the cordia?
Pics borrowed from Austarion:

I'm looking at making new door trims (to remove the power window switch to the console) and use the sigma/scorpion/starion handbrake set up, to allow more room.
Just a thought.

This thing will decimate all.......once I've put another fifteen grand into it!
I'll make one similar to the starion to suit the cordia..................mainly so I can put the passenger window down without having to lean over that side.............always wanted to do this..........just had trouble with the cordia handbrake location.
Yeah, sounds good as, I look forward to seeing how it turns out! :)
I love it! Even the positioning of the dvd player looks awesome in there!!

Now that the brake booster is sorted it's time for the console..............I basically want it from this:

To this:

I have had a look at different handbrake setups and have settled on a Sigma lever rather than a TR-TS magna version due to the angle. (Both are in the off position)

The holes in the floorpan are offset aswell........so I'm looking at welding the whole unit to 2mm plate steel then bolting to the original holes.
Have been investigating the placement of the handbrake........there is a oval bulge in the floor pan just forward of the original position, this is where it needs to sit in order to ensure correct operation.
I will need to make 4 new holes for mounting..........should be no drama.
The sigma handbrake has the oval "use" in it's base, but I will need t enlarge it a little to make the lever sit "flat" on the floor.
I still have plenty of room between the seats due to how far forward the whole assembly is mounted.
Here are some pics:

I also need to purchase a 1 inch external thread extension to ensure the handbrake cable reaches (As it's miles off)..........cheaper than getting a whole new one made.
Spent today relocating the handbrake...........worked well until I seen the floor bend.
I needed to remove the shifter anyway as I have refurbished one.

This included a new gear insulator and a second hand shifter as they wear on the pivot joint causing the "up & Down" movement.
I have made 5mm plates to locate under the floor pan to help with the flex issue:

Just finished final fitment, all is good............handbrake works well now.

Refurbished shifter back in place.............time to build the console.

I have mounted the handbrake to the floor and it works well.............I have now started on the production of the console..........it's early days but here is how it's looking.

Ah yeah... she's coming along hey! So you're building the centre console to "look" like the Starion version? You not actually using a Starion one?
No, I actually used the starion rear half graftted to the cordia one at the moment..............time for a change.
During the construction of building a console out of MDF I figured it will look the same as the one I took out.......... so I test fitted the console only to find it fits!
It requires some small modification, but a damn site better than making a whole new one. Here are some pics.

I have now added a recess in order for the handbrake to clear.

Used the starion window switch housing:

Just need to ensure I can "click" it in place.
Final prime..........just need to find some VN - VP commodore switches as they are illuminated, then its topcoat time.

Update..........here is the console painted and with Starion switches.........I have also added luminous tape to the switches in order to see them in the dark.

I'm not happy with the colour.......it looks more brown to me (as seen on the bin lid)............I'll get the colour mixed soon.
I love it... looks very sexy Andrew! ![]()
wow... good job dude!
Thanks Guys.
OK........colour all sorted............the bin lid has not been repainted.

Here are some pics of it installed:

Now that the console is finished I need to move the old power window switches from the arm rests.

They look so ugly..........don't know why I did it!!
Anyway, I now have replaced the blue vinyl on the door trim.

Here is a test fit of the door trim with the handle.........looks alot cleaner now.

Just need to finish the wiring for the windows and finalise the passenger side.
Project finished.

Location
That's a top idea, I really like the gearstick boot... You reckon you'll do the starion console?
