Spotted this the other day and was wondering if anybody still makes this type of filter or if its a custom made jobby?? or if anybody else has any ideas, dont really want to cut my original filet housing as id like to be able to keep all the original parts for it if i come to sell it.

Looks to me like a really big Pod filter, I'd measure the inner diameter of the air can and look for a pod filter that'd fit against the base of the can (the lid)... ofcourse making sure the Air Flow Meter fits inside it... would have some nice flutter I reckon!

Might work! LOL

i heard that there is a problem with using a pod filter in conjunction with the karman vortex AFM.

the problem is that inside the karman vortex there is a small triangle shaped peice of aluminium that is designed to create turbulance before passing the flow sensors.so by removing the original designed panel filter and introducing a pod filter you are only creating the turbulance before the air passes through the sensor.this is because the pod filter is designed to create turbulance when the air passes through.

in essence the sensor will just get confused and give inaccurate reading to the ecu. in short you may get an increase in horse power at the risks of running rich or lean and running very uneconomically. i know there are guys who have done this before and i am doing it again myself to see what i get get out of my g62t.

conclusion: if you are going to throw money at your car go straight to the ecu and upgradeto another type (eg. link) and scrap the digital signal karman vortex sensor for a later model simpler analog sensor.

However dont take my word for it as you may be more intellegent than the mitsubishi engineers and be able to solve the million dollar problem. you may just get lucky.

im still comitted to the fight lol

Sounds good, but that leaves me wondering what happens with cut air cans.... that's essentially imitating a pod filter but with a bigger frame ???

I wonder! LOL enlightened
